Yoga residential courses, with belly-dancing teaching in Scotland
RETRAIN YOUR FRAME - yoga, belly-dancing and pampering
This two-night break, incorporating yoga and belly dancing, plus a little bit of pampering, is to introduce you to ways of exercising and relaxing your body, using your muscles in a different way (belly-dancing is different to anything you have tried before). Please note: Belly-dancing is an activity for women, so this break is restricted to women. Your tutors are Delia Gallagher (yoga) and Caroline Danso Winter (belly-dancing), who recommend that you wear loose, comfortable clothing. Caroline will help to release your inner goddess - it may be soft and feminine or fiery and passionate; belly-dancing can stimulate your senses and re-energise your energy centres ; it increases the flexibility of the spine, and improves your strength, balance, posture and breathing. Day One: Arrive in time to settle in at Duntrune and enjoy afternoon tea and cakes and perhaps a stroll in the garden before dinner at seven o’clock with Olwyn and Barrie Jack. Caroline Danso Winter will join us to discuss your needs and answer any questions you may have. Day Two: Enjoy a full Scottish breakfast followed by a luxury pedicure by Alison Brady and her staff of the Retreat Salon – an hour’s foot-pampering with cuticle work, buffing, exfoliating, and foot massage with polish, to make your feet glamorous! Then comes a yoga session with Delia to relax and tone your body and mind (because yoga is as much about the mind as it is about the body). Your first session will consist of movements to increase flexibility of the spine, and strengthening and balance postures using some classic yoga poses, plus relaxation, breathing, chi gong and meditation techniques. You'll gain a full appreciation of what yoga is all about. After a light lunch, Caroline will join you for an afternoon of belly-dancing – two hours of fun and learning how to keep fit and supple (including a short break). After this full day of exercise, you can spend a quiet period of meditation in the rose garden or in our “woodhenge” or browse through our eclectic collection of books before dinner with Olwyn and Barrie at seven o’clock. Day Three: A light breakfast is followed by your second yoga session to build on what you learned in the first session. Delia will show you poses and techniques to use in everyday life to enhance health and confidence. If you already practise yoga Delia will follow the same format with you as above but will also look at areas you wish to improve. After a coffee break, you return to belly-dancing to build on what you learned on day two. Now you will feel fitter and your muscles will appreciate a real workout. On day 3 the yoga and belly-dancing sessions last about ninety minutes.
