Scottish yoga holiday, painting courses, cookery tuition, and health and beauty weekends Scotland
REFRESH BODY AND MIND - yoga, painting and pampering!
If you are feeling rather jaded and want a short break which is more than just a short break – this is for you! A break to relax the body and refresh the mind, because it incorporates painting, which is guaranteed to focus your mind and allow stresses to melt away, yoga to encourage your body to relax which, in turn, frees the mind. And our wellbeing treatments (at Duntrune or the nearby Retreat Salon) will give that extra zing to reinvigorate you. Your tutors are Delia Gallagher (yoga) and Liz McCarthy (painting). Day One: Arrive in time for afternoon tea or before seven o'clock for dinner with Barrie and Olwyn Jack at seven o’clock. Then you can settle down by the fire with a good book or, in the light evenings, explore the garden. Day Two : Indulge yourself with a full Scottish breakfast (porridge is our speciality!) before a short walk along the drive to Liz McCarthy’s studio for a morning of painting tuition. Liz takes a maximum of two people so that she can spend time with you whether you are a beginner or a more experienced painter. She will show you how to assess the subject, choose the medium and apply techniques. All materials are supplied. The morning finishes with homemade soup and sandwiches, prepared for you by Sandy, Liz’s husband. Walk back to Duntrune House for a yoga session with Delia Gallagher, our yoga teacher. Your first session will consist of movements to increase flexibility of the spine, with strengthening and balance postures using some classic yoga poses, and also relaxation, breathing, chi gong and meditation techniques. Dinner at Duntrune House, with Olwyn and Barrie Jack, is at seven o’clock and then you can round off the day relaxing by the fire. Before dinner you could opt for a relaxing massage or other wellbeing treatments click here for more info. Day Three: This morning you have a choice of either yoga or painting (let us know your preference when you book your break) If you choose yoga then the light breakfast is for you because it is best not to practise yoga after a heavy meal. If you choose yoga, then you can build on the moves and postures practised in the first session. Delia will instruct you in poses and techniques that you can use in your everyday life to enhance your health, confidence and happiness. If you already practise yoga Delia will follow the same basic format as above but will spend time with you to look at the areas you wish to improve. Then lunch at Duntrune House. An alternative to the yoga session is to enjoy a full breakfast before making your way back to Liz’s studio for a second session to develop your painting skills. Liz will help you review what you have done and discuss with you how you can develop your talent – perhaps join a local club or return to The Real Retreat at a later date. For everyone, there is lunch with Barrie and Olwyn before returning home. Your choice: If you prefer to have yoga only or painting only, we can organise a programme for you.
