Scottish Residential painting and art tuition in acrylics. Holidays with painting in Scotland
RECHARGE YOUR BATTERIES - painting, wellbeing treatments and relaxation
This break allows you to explore a new way of relaxing. There is painting, an activity so totally absorbing that your cares will go and excellent for relaxing your mind and developing skills of observation. When did you last take time to study what is around you or identify the subtle changes in the colours in the sunset? By looking at the world with a painter’s eye, you will be surprised at how your observation skills develop and how you can interpret your vision with paints. We have also incorporated free time so that you can use this skill to look at the countryside around us. Plus indulgent treats from natural sources to aid your wellbeing. Your tutor is Liz McCarthy, who is a well-known painter and teacher of painting, with the wellbeing treatments supplied by Alison Brady of the Retreat Salon. Day One: Arrive at Duntrune in time for afternoon tea or for dinner at seven o'clock with Olwyn and Barrie Jack. Alison Brady of the Retreat Salon will join us to talk about the Retreat Salon's treatments and the benefit for your health and also how best to maintain a healthy diet. Then you have time to relax by the fire and enjoy a good book – we have an eclectic collection. Day Two: After a full Scottish breakfast, you can explore the garden and enjoy the fresh air of the Angus countryside, or walk through the woods to find wild flowers, perhaps take some photographs for inspiration for your painting tutorials. Use this for inspiration for your first painting session at ten o’clock with Liz McCarthy in her studio in the grounds of Duntrune House. Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced painter, Liz will spend one-to-one time with you because she takes a maximum of two people. You will learn about the different ways of expressing your artistic side by experimenting with mixed media, collage and textural effects and by not painting to a formula. The afternoon gives you time for pure indulgence at the nearby Retreat Salon, with an infrared sauna and a back-to-nature face treatment using our green earth’s natural ingredients – a deep cleanse, exfoliation, massage, and a mask with a moisturising treatment to finish. Dinner is at seven o’clock. Day Three: Breakfast is followed by your second painting session when Liz will show you how to interpret in a more imaginative way, perhaps using the inspirational Duntrune landscape and surroundings. After lunch with Liz, walk back to Duntrune House where you can relax or head for home, perhaps via one of the visitor attractions in the area, such as Glamis Castle or the RRS Discovery. If you have a camera, bring it with you or photographs you have taken of scenery.
